Local Service Clubs Announce 2011 Ice Out Fundraiser

Local Non-Profit Organizations and Civic Groups Invited to Participate

A group of local civic organizations announced the start of a creative new fundraising effort entitled Vermont Ice Out Meadow Madness. The promotion is based on entrants guessing when a block of Grafton Village Cheese will drop through the ice in the Retreat Meadows in Brattleboro.

Tickets, priced at $5 each, may be purchased online or from a participating non-profit organization or civic group. When a guess is made, the entrant designates which participating organization they wish to benefit from their ticket. The contest winnings will then be divided so that the winning ticket holder receives 50%; 25% goes to the selling organizations; and the remaining 25% will be donated to the Ice Out Committee's selected organization. This year's lucky recipient is the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro.

Organizations wishing to participate may go to www.vticeout.com to review the participation guidelines and to download an application. Applications from organizations must be received by August 31. Ticket sales begin October 1, to coincide with Gallery Walk.

Vermont Ice Out is a benefit program coordinated by the Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary, the Brattleboro Rotary, the United Way of Windham County, the Kiwanis Club, and Grafton Village Cheese.
